Our Approach to Artificial Intelligence

Transparency and human oversight are at the core of Stashplanner. Here is how we use AI to help you build your financial future.

At Stashplanner, our mission is to make complex financial concepts clear, accessible, and actionable for everyday people. We believe everyone deserves the tools to understand their money and plan their future without needing a finance degree. To provide this high-quality education and powerful calculators at scale, we utilize advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

However, finance is fundamentally personal and carries significant impact. We believe that integrating AI into financial education requires a strict, ethical framework focused on transparency and human accountability. Inspired by industry leaders in AI safety, we have established the following policy to govern our digital operations.

1. Core Principles of AI Usage

AI as an Assistant, Not an Author

We leverage AI primarily as a high-powered research assistant and drafting engine. When developing new blog posts or educational explanations within our calculators, AI helps us synthesize complex financial concepts, compile historical data, and draft initial content structures. The AI acts as a tool to accelerate the creation process, but it does not have the final say on what is published.

Human-in-the-Loop Verification

Every piece of content generated with the assistance of AI is subject to a mandatory Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) review process. Before an article or tool is published to Stashplanner:

  • Fact-Checking: Human editors verify the accuracy of the financial formulas, historical references, and economic data points against high-authority human-written sources (such as the IRS, SEC, or reputable financial institutions).
  • Contextual Nuance: AI can sometimes lack the nuance required for sensitive financial topics. Human reviewers edit the content to ensure it accurately reflects real-world financial complexities and avoids overly simplistic or absolute claims.
  • Tone and Bias: We review content to ensure it remains objective, educational, and free from algorithmic bias.

2. Transparency and Disclosure

We mandate that users are always aware when they are consuming content that may have been generated with AI assistance. Every educational article on our blog contains a clear disclaimer indicating that Artificial Intelligence was used during the drafting process. We do not attempt to pass off AI-generated work as solely human-authored.

3. Clear Limitations and Boundaries

No Certified Financial Advice

Stashplanner is an educational platform. Neither our human authors nor our AI systems are certified financial planners (CFP®), brokers, or registered investment advisors.

None of the content, model projections, or calculator results provided on this site constitute personalized financial advice. AI models, by their nature, generalize based on their training data. They cannot account for your specific tax bracket, risk tolerance, debt profile, or long-term goals.

Acknowledging "Hallucinations"

Current generation Large Language Models are known to occasionally "hallucinate"—producing information that sounds plausible but is factually incorrect. While our HITL review process catches the vast majority of these errors, the fast-moving nature of tax laws and financial markets means discrepancies can occur. We explicitly acknowledge this limitation and urge all users to conduct their own due diligence or consult a professional before making major financial decisions based on our content.

4. Data Privacy and Security

When you use the interactive calculators on Stashplanner, your financial inputs (such as income, debts, or savings balances) are processed entirely locally within your browser. We do not send your personal financial data to third-party AI models for processing, training, or analysis. Your numbers remain yours.

5. Continuous Accountability

AI technology is advancing rapidly. As the capabilities of these models grow, so too will our policy. We are committed to regularly reviewing our AI usage and updating this policy to reflect the latest ethical guidelines in machine learning and financial publishing.

If you spot an error in our content or have questions about how a specific calculator functions, we want to hear from you. Accountability is a continuous process.
